With 1,325 new COVID-19 cases, Gujarat’s tally rose to 2,21,493 on Tuesday, while more than 1,500 patients recovered from the infection, the state health department said.
As many as 15 more patients succumbed to COVID-19, raising the statewide fatalities to 4,110, it said.
Recoveries continued to outnumber new cases with 1,531 more patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day, said the department in a release.
This took the number of recovered cases to 2,03,111, said the department.
With this, the COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stood at 91.70 percent.
There are now 14,272 active cases in Gujarat with 78 patients being on ventilators, said the release.
As many as 60,875 tests were conducted in Gujarat on Tuesday, taking the count of samples examined so far to 83,71,433, it said.
Ahmedabad reported 294 new cases followed by Surat 214, Vadodara 171, and Rajkot 129.
Among other districts, Mehsana recorded 47 new cases, Jamnagar and Kheda 46 each, Banaskantha 40, Surendranagar 26, Bharuch 24, Kutch 21, Bhavnagar, Patan and Panchmahal 20 each, Junagadh 19, Morbi 18, Amreli and Sabarkantha 16 each, Dahod 13 and Gir Somnath 11.
Among the 15 new fatalities, nine patients died in Ahmedabad, three in Surat, and one each in Rajkot, Amreli, and Vadodara, said the department.
In the adjoining Union Territory of Daman, Diu and Dadra, and Nagar Haveli, the COVID-19 tally stood at 3,322 and recovered cases at 3,302, said the officials.

294 cases, 9 deaths, 295 recover in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad recorded 294 COVID-19 cases and nine deaths, the highest for any district in Gujarat, on Tuesday, taking its tally to 52,630 and toll to 2,137, an official said.
Ahmedabad municipal corporation areas accounted for 278 of the new cases and 273 of the 295 people who recovered, the rest coming from rural parts of the district, he said.
“The city’s north-west zone leads with 475 active cases, while the west zone has 464 such cases and south-west zone 420. The overall count of active cases in the city is 2,572 while the number of containment zones came down from 238 to 196 after 42 areas were removed post a review,” an AMC official said.
“The bed occupancy in the city’s 105 private hospitals requisitioned by the AMC has reduced to 66 percent. As against 3,405 beds available, 2,248 are occupied,” said the Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association.
In ICUs with ventilators, 55 beds are available and 188 occupied, while in ICUs without ventilators, 135 beds are available and 371 occupied, it added.
Surat records 214 cases, 3 deaths; 274 recover
Surat reported 214 COVID-19 cases and three deaths on Tuesday, while 274 people were discharged during the day, an official said.
The tally in the district is now 45,389 while the death toll is 1,090, he added.
“Of the new cases, 184 were in Surat city, which also accounted for 220 people who recovered during the day. The rural part of the district saw 30 new cases and 54 people getting discharged,” the official said.
He said the recovery rate in Surat city was now 94.28 percent as 31,840 people have been discharged so far.
“A total of 394 patients are admitted in city hospitals. The number of people quarantined in the city is 19,901. Bed occupancy rates in civil hospital and SMIMER hospital are 4 percent and 7.31 percent, with 89 and 60 patients admitted there against the availability of 2,225 and 821 beds,” a civic official said.
In rural Surat, Kamrej taluka leads with 2,377 cases, including 11 detected on Tuesday, while Umarpada has 81 cases, the lowest among nine talukas.
