Gujarat on Wednesday reported 1,372 new coronavirus positive cases, taking the total count of infections to 1,27,541, the state health department said.

With 15 deaths, including four in Surat, the overall toll in the state reached 3,370, it said.
A total of 1,289 patients were discharged in the day after treatment, taking the total count of recoveries to 1,07,701, the department said in a release.
With this, the state’s recovery rate now stands at 84.44 percent.
Of the 15 deaths, Ahmedabad and Vadodara reported three deaths each, while two fatalities each occurred in Bhavnagar and Rajkot. One person died in Morbi.
At 294, Surat reported the highest number of cases in the state in the day, followed by Ahmedabad with 185 fresh infections.
Rajkot and Vadodara reported 141 and 134 new cases, respectively.
Among other districts, Jamnagar reported 95 cases, Banaskantha 51, Mehsana 45, Gandhinagar and Junagadh 38 each, Bhavnagar 37, Amreli, Panchmahal, and Kutch 27 each, Morbi 26, Bharuch, Patan and Surendranagar 22 each, Sabarkantha 18, Khed 14, Gir Somnath, and Mahisagar 13 each, Dahod 12, Narmada 11, Botad nine, etc.
The state now has 16,470 active cases, the department said.
A total of 61,907 samples were tested in the last 24 hours at the rate of 952.42 tests per day per million population, it said.
A total of 39,86,370 samples have been tested so far in the state.
Gujarat’s COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 1,27,541, new cases 1,372, deaths 3,370, discharged 1,07,701, active cases 16,470, and people tested so far 39,86,370.

Ahmedabad records 185 new cases, three more die
Ahmedabad’s tally of coronavirus cases rose to 35,488 with 185 new cases being reported on Wednesday, the Gujarat health department said.
With three more COVID-19 patients dying, the death toll in the district reached 1,807, it said.
A total of 29,494 patients have been discharged in the district so far. 129 patients recovered from the virus on Wednesday, the department said in its release.
Ahmedabad city reported 160 new cases while the rural parts reported 25 cases.
All three deaths were reported in the city.
Also, out of 129 recoveries, 100 were in Ahmedabad city and 29 in the rural parts.
Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Gupta, who is in-charge of the management of COVID-19 situation in Ahmedabad city, said the civic body has set up over 100 testing kiosks across all the seven city zones to “test one and test all”.
Anybody can walk into these kiosks and get tested for the virus free-of-cost. A similar facility has been set up in over 80 urban health centres, he said.
Masks and social distancing are mandatory, but a large number of people have been seen ignoring these precautions, he said.
Gupta also appealed to people not to eat in groups.
As per the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the city has 3,630 active coronavirus cases, highest 664 of them in the west zone, followed by the north-west zone with 607 cases.

294 new coronavirus cases in Surat, four deaths
Coronavirus cases in Surat district rose to 26,137 with 294 new infections being reported on Wednesday, the highest in Gujarat during the day, the health department said.
With four fatalities, the death toll in the district rose to 913, it said.
Surat city reported 183 new cases and 180 recoveries, while the rural parts reported 111 new cases and 94 recoveries.
Out of four deaths, three were reported in rural parts and one in the city, the department said in its release.
The Surat Municipal Corporation said it has so far surveyed 8.9 lakh people from the areas of the city from where COVID-19 cases were reported.
37,693 people have been quarantined in the city after they came in contact with the people infected with the virus.
In the city, Katargam locality has reported the highest 3,582 COVID-19 cases so far, while Athwa has reported 3,538 cases, 58 of them on Wednesday, the highest among city zones, the SMC said.
Of 3,046 beds for COVID-19 patients available at two government hospitals in the city, 233 are occupied.
In rural Surat, out of nine talukas, Kamrej has reported the highest number of 1,331 COVID-19 cases, followed by Choryasi with 1,262 and Bardoli with 1,118 cases.
Kamrej taluka has also reported the highest number of 82 fatalities.
