Gujarat logs 17 new coronavirus cases

Gujarat reported 17 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of infections in the state to 8,25,213, the health department said on Tuesday evening.

Gujarat reported 17 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of infections in the state to 8,25,213, the health department said on Tuesday evening.

With 22 patients given discharge from hospitals, the tally of recoveries went up to 8,14,956 at a recovery rate of 98.76 percent, the official release said.

No death due to the viral infection was recorded during the day. The death toll due to the pandemic in Gujarat stands at 10,078, it added.

Of 179 active patients, six are on ventilator while 173 are stable, said the release. As many as 4.12 crore doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the state till now, including over 5.92 lakh on Tuesday.

No new coronavirus infection was found in the adjoining Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu since Monday evening, the local authorities said, adding that one patient recovered during the day. Of 10,629 persons who tested positive for the virus since the outbreak in the UT, four died, 10,621 recovered while four cases are still active.

Gujarat’s COVID-19 figures are total cases 8,25,213, new cases 17, death toll 10,078, discharged 8,14,956, active cases 179 and people tested so far – figures not released.
