Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Ramesh Sanghavi on Monday conferred President’s Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak on three Indian Coast Guard personnel in recognition of their valiant efforts in rescuing 8 fishermen from the high seas.
The Medallion, Certificates and a lump-sum monetary grant of Rs. 1,50,000 to each of these personnel. The Minister also informed that the Government of Gujarat has approved extending the benefits of State Government to the Gujarat domiciled ICG personnel awarded with President Tatrakshak Medal (PTM) and Tatrakshak Medal (TM).
Inspector General Anil Kumar Harbola, TM, the Commander Coast Guard Region (NW) was also present on the occasion.
On the occasion of Republic Day 2022, as part of the ‘Jeevan Raksha Padak series of awards – 2021’, Deepak Kumar Yadav, Adh(RP), 04991-T, C-149, Dharmender, U/Nvk(ME), 12395-W, C-149 and Monu Kumar, U/Nvk(RO), 12566-P, C-153 of Coast Guard Region (NW) were conferred with Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak by the President of India. On 18 May 2021, during cyclone Tauk-Tae, a Coast Guard rescue team comprising these personnel rescued 08 fishermen who were stranded on fishing vessels that were in distress off Veraval. The team braving the rough weather and gusting winds of about 80 Kmph undertook the rescue operation and saved the fishermen with utter disregard to their own safety.
