AHMEDABAD, NOV 16
Riding high on the anti-incumbency wave, unresolved pollution, sewage and road issues, increasing drug-related crimes in the industrial belt of Vatwa in Eastern Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad District Congress Committee chief and Other Backward Community (OBC) leader Balwantsinh Gadhvi is confident of wresting Vatwa Assembly seat from the BJP this time around.

- Despite the tall claims of BJP’s ‘vikas’, minority and migrant labour areas were highly neglected in this constituency: Gadhvi

Two-time MLA and former Minister of State for Home Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja has nurtured this constituency by undertaking developmental works worth over Rs 1,000 crores. Jadeja has made this constituency as an impregnable fort of BJP in Ahmedabad district, which consists of 21 seats, including 16 in Ahmedabad city.

This constituency has 20 percent Muslims, 10 percent Dalits, migrant workers from states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odhiya, and South India. This mixed population voters will decide the fate of candidates in this constituency.
In a candid talk with the media at a Diwali get-together, Gadhvi said, “Despite the tall claims of BJP’s ‘vikas’, minority and migrant labour areas were highly neglected in this constituency. Pollution, sewage and roads are still nagging issues in this industrial belt which contributes a lot to the state exchequer and the BJP-run Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Congress is the only secular party working for the inclusive growth of all whether we remain in power or not. Now, Resurgent Congress will address all these issues in time-bound manner, if elected to power in Gujarat.”
“Furthermore, our manifesto released by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot contains our vision for youth, homemakers, farmers, labourers, industry and business. We will put an end to the exploitation of youth in the name of contractual service and will introduce old pension scheme for the state government staffers. We will invest in health and education to increase the human development index of our future generation. BJP has been in power for the last 27 years in Gujarat but has failed to resolve issues of Vatwa,” Gadhvi added.
