Scintillating performance of Suraj Rathod has helped the Gujarat team to clinch the title of U-23 Minifootball National Championship 2024 held at The Grid Turf & Café here from Friday to Sunday.
Gujarat team defeated DNH&DD with a final score of 6-3 and won the winners title, while Tamilnadu crushed Mumbai team to bag the Bronze Medal as the second runner-up.

Suraj Rathod of Gujarat was adjudged as Player of the Tournament while Sharanraj of Tamilnadu declared as the top scorer.
“The championship, featuring 10 teams from across India, provided a platform for emerging athletes to compete at the highest level. The event brought together the nation’s finest young minifootball players, showcasing exceptional talent and sportsmanship. The tournament was a testament to the growing popularity and potential of minifootball in India. Fans and spectators were treated to a series of exhilarating matches that highlighted the skills and dedication of the young athletes,” said Tarun Mehra, Secretary-General, Minifootball Association of Gujarat .

Vice President & Founder Member of World.Minifootball Federation Vitthal Shirgaonkar said, “We are hosting this tournament to select the best performers for the MAI Team which will represent our country in the World Minifootball U23 World Cup 2024. This tournament will be held in Croatia from 06th to 11th Oct 2024. 16 teams from across the Globe will vie for the coveted World Cup.”
“Five players from Gujarat, including four – Shubh Shah, Sarfaraj Pathan, Jaywal Dubey, and Arya Patel -from Ahmedabad, have represented India in the 15-member World Cup team. Incidentally, the Indian team’s coach was also from Ahmedabad,” added Shirgaonkar.
