GANDHINAGAR, DECEMBER 8
The Gujarat Congress will take out a massive rally and ‘gherao’ of the state assembly in Gandhinagar on Monday, the first day of the three-day Winter session on December 9, on various anti-people policies like rising prices, recruitment scam, commercialization of education.
According to a press statement issued by Dr Manish Doshi, main spokesperson of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), on Sunday, “Congress workers, students, unemployed youth, job aspirants affected by the recruitment exam scam and farmers from across the state will join the ‘massive rally’, which will be organised by the Congress at open air theatre, GH-5 Circle, Sector 16 in the state capital on Monday to press for various issues affecting the common men. The rally will commence at 9:30 a.m.”
It will be followed by ‘gherao’ (to lay siege) of the Vidhan Sabha complex by the rallyists in support of their slew of demands, the main opposition party said on Sunday.
The two programmes are being organised on the day the three-day assembly session begins because the short session will give the opposition party little time to raise these important issues in the House, Dr Doshi said.
“The rally and assembly gherao programme organised by Congress is a way to vent their anger and frustration towards the BJP government,” the state Congress spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, two Congress MLAs – Punja Vansh and Shailesh Parmar have decided to rake up the DPS East no-objection certificate forgery issue in the House.
