Meanwhile, the state government said the World Health Organisation (WHO) has appreciated the management of COVID-19 in Ahmedabad and suggested taking up various measures being implemented in the city as a case study for the rest of India and other countries.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said the WHO has hailed the Ahmedabad model “very useful and encouraging”.
The WHO wished to share the multi-pronged initiatives in Ahmedabad with other cities in India and across the world as an example of best practices for COVID management, it said.
Senior civic officials had made a presentation before WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan on Friday, saying the model would be shared nationally and globally.
The WHO has suggested to take up initiatives like ”Dhanvantari Rath”, 104 fever helpline, Sanjivani Van; and active participation of private hospitals in control and treatment as a case study for other cities in India and abroad, the government said.
Meanwhile, with 8 new cases, the total count in rural areas in Ahmedabad district mounted to 1,302, of which 1,127 patients have recovered including 16 on Saturday.
A total of 58 patients have succumbed to COVID-19 in rural areas so far, officials said.
