AHMEDABAD, JUNE 5
Riding on Gujarat’s globally acclaimed ease-of-doing-business framework and robust manufacturing ecosystem, Mallcom India Limited, one of India’s largest manufacturers and exporters of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), on Friday unveiled the next phase of its growth journey with the operationalisation of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Sanand.
The company has invested more than ₹100 crore in the facility, entirely through internal accruals, underscoring its confidence in India’s manufacturing growth story and long-term industrial expansion strategy.
The Sanand unit, Mallcom’s 17th manufacturing facility, currently supports employment for more than 200 people, including direct and indirect workforce, with plans to increase this to over 300 jobs by next year. The plant houses NBR and PU gloves dipping lines, injection moulding machines, gloves printing lines, safety helmet manufacturing facilities and bump-cap production units.
The company also announced the commissioning of a new NBR dipping line equipped with online printing and stripping technology while accelerating localisation of high-performance products such as Protech PU Gloves that were previously imported.
The facility reflects Mallcom’s integrated approach to innovation, sustainability and quality-driven manufacturing. Environment-friendly initiatives at the plant include the use of biomass pellets for cleaner energy generation, a Zero Liquid Discharge system for water conservation and adherence to globally recognised ethical manufacturing standards through SEDEX audits.
With vertically integrated operations and stringent quality controls, the company manufactures products compliant with international safety certifications including EN, CE, ANSI and IS standards, strengthening its position as a trusted supplier of industrial safety solutions worldwide.
Giriraj Mall, Executive Director, Mallcom India Ltd., said: “Resulting from our MoU with the Government of Gujarat, our Sanand facility represents a significant milestone in our expansion journey and reinforces our commitment to building globally competitive manufacturing capabilities in India. Gujarat’s progressive industrial policies, investor-friendly environment, superior infrastructure and seamless ease of doing business have played a key role in enabling this expansion. Our continued investments reflect a balanced focus on innovation, sustainability and strengthening indigenous production.”
On the company’s investment plans, he added: “The entire investment of over ₹100 crore in the Sanand facility is being funded through internal accruals. This demonstrates the strength of our balance sheet, the resilience of our business model and our long-term confidence in India’s manufacturing ecosystem.”
Responding to a query on how capacity enhancement and new product launches would strengthen Mallcom’s global footprint, Giriraj Mall said: “The capacity expansion at Sanand and the addition of advanced product lines significantly enhance our ability to serve international customers with greater scale, shorter lead times and improved product customisation. The localisation of products such as Protech PU Gloves further improves our competitiveness while reducing dependence on imports. We expect Europe, North America, the Middle East, Latin America and select Asia-Pacific markets to drive the next phase of export growth as demand for certified, high-quality occupational safety products continues to rise globally.”
Addressing questions on geopolitical uncertainties and supply-chain disruptions, he said: “Global customers are increasingly looking to diversify sourcing beyond traditional manufacturing hubs. Mallcom is strategically positioned to leverage this shift through its integrated manufacturing capabilities, strong compliance culture, diversified product portfolio and extensive export experience. By strengthening local manufacturing, investing in advanced technologies and reducing import dependency wherever feasible, we aim to establish India as a preferred global sourcing destination for PPE and industrial safety products. Our focus is on delivering reliability, quality, supply-chain resilience and sustainability, which are becoming critical factors for international buyers.”
Rohit Mall, Associate Vice President, Mallcom India Ltd., added: “With advanced technologies, enhanced production capabilities and a sharp focus on quality and compliance, we are well-positioned to meet evolving industry demands while creating long-term value for stakeholders and generating meaningful employment opportunities.”
A major milestone for the company is the establishment of India’s first Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) unit for Protech PU Gloves at the Sanand facility. The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India vision and addresses a segment historically dominated by imports from China and other Asian countries.
The facility is expected to become a key pillar in Mallcom’s long-term manufacturing roadmap, enabling the company to scale capacities, deepen localisation, accelerate product innovation and expand its manufacturing footprint beyond its traditional bases in West Bengal and Uttarakhand.
With sustained investments in technology, sustainability and ethical manufacturing practices, Mallcom aims to strengthen its position as a globally competitive India-based PPE manufacturer while contributing significantly to employment generation and the evolution of the industrial safety sector.
