The Gulmohar Golfer of the Year (GGOY) 2022 got off to a brilliant start with close contests across the handicap categories.
The first round of the 11-round GGOY, a part of the MP Financial Services-Go Golf 2022 calendar, had 71 registrations. It was played at the Gulmohar Greens: Golf and Country Club on January 29 and 30.
Rutvik Thakkar was the winner in the 0-14 handicap category with 84 gross and 35 points, and Yash Shah was the runner up with 79 gross and 34 points.
Rahul Sanghani emerged the winner in the 15-23 handicap category with 87 gross and 33 points, and Yasumuru was the runner up with 90 gross and 32 points.
Bhavin Vadgama was the winner in the 24-36 handicap category with 99 gross and 33 points, and Mohan Lal was the runner up with 103 gross and 32 points.
Thirty-four of the golfers earned reward points, with the winners taking home 3,000 points for their effort, and the runner ups 1,800 points.
Three skill competitions were also played alongside the first round of GGOY. Rahul Sanghani won the competition for the longest drive at hole # 1 with a shot of 259 yards. Yash Shah won the competition for the closest to pin at hole # 3 by landing the ball just 10 feet off the hole. Dilipkumar Adhyapok won the competition for the second shot closest to pin at hole # 9 by landing the ball nine feet and three inches away.
The next tournament of the MP Financial Services-Go Golf 2022 calendar is Champion Family, scheduled to be played on February 12 and 13.
