Reinforcing its commitment to grassroots healthcare, the Rotary Club of Bhavnagar Vibrant organised a Basic Medical Camp at Kobdi village on February 1, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society and NSS cadets of Maharanishree Nandkuvarba Mahila College.

Designed to strengthen preventive healthcare in rural areas, the camp offered comprehensive basic health check-ups to villagers, including screening for blood pressure, diabetes, chest-related infections and haemoglobin levels. Following medical assessments, essential medicines were distributed free of cost, ensuring timely relief and continuity of care.
Speaking on the initiative, Namrita Chadha, President, Rotary Club of Bhavnagar Vibrant, said, “At Rotary, service begins with health. Through camps like this, we aim to reach underserved communities with basic but crucial medical care and create awareness about early detection and prevention. Kobdi village’s response reassures us that such initiatives truly make a difference.”
A representative of the Indian Red Cross Society highlighted the importance of collaborative outreach, stating, “Preventive screening at the community level helps identify health risks early and reduces long-term complications. Partnering with Rotary and NSS enables us to take healthcare beyond hospitals and into villages where it is most needed.”
Echoing the sentiment, an NSS official said, “For our cadets, participation in this medical camp is both a learning experience and a service to society. It instils empathy, responsibility and a deeper understanding of community health challenges.”
The camp also saw the presence of Sunita Shah, Secretary, Rotary Club of Bhavnagar Vibrant, along with other Rotary members, whose coordination and on-ground support ensured smooth execution of the programme.
With active participation from villagers and enthusiastic involvement of student volunteers, the Kobdi health camp emerged as a meaningful step towards community well-being, underlining the power of partnerships in delivering accessible and affordable healthcare.
