AHMEDABAD, JULY 4
Months after Waaree Energies inaugurated the nation’s largest solar cell manufacturing Gigafactory in Gujarat, H&H Aluminium Pvt Ltd has launched the India’s largest and most advanced aluminium solar frame manufacturing plant at Rajkot, Gujarat on Friday. The 24,000 metric tons (MT) per annum capacity at village Chibhda in Rajkot can power and support up to 6 Gigawatt (GW) solar installation in India. Initially, it will offer job to 300 people. Incidentally, the company has imported Chinese machineries for this plan as only two per cent of the country’s needs is met by domestic companies.

The plant was inaugurated by Union Minister of Jal Shakti CR Paatil,
In his inaugural address, CR Paatil attributed this to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of indigenisation and thrust to tap renewable energy. He said, “In order to protect the domestic industry, In September 2024, Government of India imposed an anti-dumping duty ranging from $403 to $577 per MT (Equivalent to 14%) for five years on imports of Aluminium Frames for Solar Panel from China.”
Company has invested around Rs. 150 crore in the 28,000 sq. meter state-of-the-art and one of the most advanced plant for the solar panel aluminium frames. Trial production at the plant has commenced in the month of June 2025 and commercial production is expected to start within a month. At full capacity the plant will be able to support sales of Rs. 700-750 crore per annum. The plant will generate employment opportunities for over 300 people.

Sharing more information, Uttam Patel, Director, H&H Aluminium Pvt Ltd said, “This will be India’s largest and most advanced Solar Panel aluminium frame plant at single location and we were able to install in a record time of just about a year. We are thankful to the state government and all concerned departments for their support. Currently, India imports 90–95% of aluminium solar panel frames, with this plant, we are making a meaningful step towards supporting the Make in India initiative and promoting domestic manufacturing in the solar energy sector. We expect to start commercial production within next one month.”
On 29th September 2024, Government of India in order to safeguard the domestic industry imposed anti-dumping duty for a period of five year on imports of “Anodized Aluminium Frames for Solar Panels/Modules” originating in or exported from China PR. Consequently, an anti-dumping duty ranging from $403 to $577 per MT (Equivalent to 14%) is imposed on imports from specified Chinese producers/exporters and any other non-specified entities. The duty is applicable for five years from the notification date.

Vijay Kaneria, Director, H&H Aluminium Pvt Ltd said, “India has achieved a historic milestone of 100 GW solar power capacity in 2025. In addition, government has set an ambitious target to install 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with a significant portion, approximately 280 GW, expected to come from solar power. This represents a huge opportunity for solar power and allied industries over the next 5-10 years.”
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy Releases Aluminium Vision Document to Drive Green Manufacturing and Resource Security
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Friday released the Aluminium Vision Document at the International Conference on Sustainable and Responsible Mining through Best Mine Closure Practices, organised by the Indian National Committee of the World Mining Congress in Hyderabad on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, Reddy said the Aluminium Vision Document reflects the Government’s commitment to building a self-reliant and resource-secure India. He highlighted the aluminium sector’s strategic role in enabling clean energy systems, electric mobility, and modern infrastructure. The document has been prepared through extensive consultations with industry stakeholders, including National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO), Hindalco Industries Ltd., Vedanta Ltd., Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC) and leading associations such as the Aluminium Association of India (AAI), Aluminium Secondary Manufacturers Association (ASMA) and the Metal Recycling Association of India (MRAI).
The document outlines a strategic roadmap to scale up aluminium production six fold by 2047. It aims to expand bauxite production capacity to 150 MTPA, double the national aluminium recycling rate, promote the adoption of low-carbon technologies and strengthen raw material security through targeted policy reforms and institutional mechanisms.
The Aluminium Vision Document aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047 and sets the foundation for a globally competitive and environmentally responsible aluminium industry.
