Having successfully displayed a 7500-square-feet Indian national flag at the Mt Vinson base camp in the Antarctica under “Mission Antarctica 2021” in November last, The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) principal Group Captain Jai Kishan undertook sky diving and performed a few Yoga Asanas – Dhanur Asana, Bhujanga Asana and Surya Ring along with fellow skydiver in the air, falling at speed of 200 miles from 13,000 feet AGL, taking the spirit of Yoga at sky high level at Queen of Hills – Darjeeling on Tuesday, the International Day of Yoga-2022.

- Three teachers and 47 students of Sainik School, Purulia, who are currently undergoing adventure course at the Institute also join the yoga programme
Continuing with the spirit of nationalism and Yogic Tradition of the country HMI, Darjeeling participated in the International Day of Yoga-2022 organised by Darjeeling Himalayan Railway at War Memorial, Batasia, Ghoom. It was witnessed by Minister of State for Railways Darshana Jardosh. The Staff of HMI participated in the event with enthusiasm and high spirit and performed various Yoga Asanas along with the other participants of the event.
The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) had successfully displayed a 7500-square-feet Indian national flag at the Mt Vinson base camp in the Antarctica.
According to the HMI, they managed to achieve the feat on 27 November as part of the expedition named “Mission Antarctica 2021”, which aimed at promoting patriotism through adventure among the youth and countrymen. “This makes us the first country to do so,” said HMI principal Gp Capt Jai Kishan, who added that the temperature was minus 25 degrees Celsius at the base camp.
Continuing with the celebration an event was also organised at the Institute campus wherein the members of the staff and their families and children participated and performed Yoga Asasa under the guidance of a trained Yoga guru. They were also joined by the three teachers and 47 students of Sainik School, Purulia, who are currently undergoing adventure course at the Institute,
