NEW DELHI, MAR 4:
Blending the colours of Holi with the cause of public health, Day 4 of Janaushadhi Saptah 2026 witnessed a vibrant nationwide rollout of free health check-up camps across states and Union Territories.

Despite Holi celebrations across the country, citizens turned out in large numbers to avail themselves of free medical services, reaffirming the growing reach of affordable healthcare under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).
Free Consultations, Diagnostics & Medicine Distribution
The health camps offered free medical consultations, on-site diagnostic services including blood pressure, blood sugar and thyroid testing, pediatric care, and consultations for chronic illnesses. Janaushadhi generic medicines were distributed free of cost to eligible beneficiaries, along with Suvidha sanitary pads.
Awareness sessions were also conducted to highlight the benefits of affordable, quality generic medicines, reinforcing the government’s push to reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenditure.
As part of the week-long celebration, approximately 250 locations nationwide are hosting free health camps, offering essential healthcare services including free consultations, distribution of medicines and basic diagnostic tests such as blood sugar and blood pressure monitoring.
Camps Held Across Multiple States
On Day 4, camps were organised at several locations, including:
- Doddaballapur, Bangalore Rural (Karnataka)
- Mohol, Solapur (Maharashtra)
- Nowhatta, Down Town Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir)
- Palnadu (Andhra Pradesh)
- Bengaluru Urban (Karnataka)
- Haveri (Karnataka)

Under PMBJP, quality generic medicines are made available to the public at affordable prices through more than 18,000 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs) operational across the country.
PMBI, the implementing agency, ensures that essential medicines are accessible at significantly lower prices compared to branded alternatives, without compromising on quality standards.
The Government has set an ambitious target of establishing 25,000 Janaushadhi Kendras by March 2027, ensuring that no citizen is deprived of essential medicines due to financial constraints.
Opportunity for Entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurs, pharmacists, doctors and eligible individuals interested in opening a Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra can apply online through the official website: www.janaushadhi.gov.in.
Financial assistance and incentives are provided under the scheme to encourage wider participation. The initiative not only strengthens the national healthcare mission but also offers a sustainable livelihood opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs.
