In a first of its kind initiative to reinforce importance of road safety in the challenging times of New Normal, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd.’s (HMSI) digital Road Safety awareness trainings – ‘Honda Road Safety E-Gurukul’ now goes to frontline COVID-19 warriors of Chennai.
In Chennai, Honda’s road safety instructors educated more than 45 Police officials of the city. To effectively spread the road safety message to all participants, the 1-hour online training was specially delivered in their mother tongue – Tamil.
After the digital road safety awareness program in Chennai, Honda has educated 316 frontline COVID-19 warriors including police officials, doctors, nurses, ambulance drivers and security guards across Chennai, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Thane and Yeola.
Prioritizing the safety of Covid-19 warriors on roads, Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj, Senior Vice President – Brand & Communications, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Honda salutes the frontline COVID-19 warriors across India who are working rigorously & selflessly in these testing times. Honda 2Wheelers India expresses its gratitude to them and wants to ensure their safety on roads by educating them on important aspects of road safety. Continuing our endeavor on this journey, we plan to extend this initiative further to more frontline COVID-19 warriors of the country.”
Keeping it informative yet engaging, Honda’s road safety instructors utilized Road Safety Learning Programs to enhance the retention of Road Safety awareness. The training focused on explaining the importance of safe riding etiquettes, safety gears, road rules, traffic signs through a mix of theory, videos and case studies. The session was followed by a Question & Answer session for resolving queries on various topics.
Honda’s CSR commitment towards Road Safety:
As a socially responsible corporate, Honda is actively contributing to spread road safety awareness and has educated over 2.50 Lac people in Tamil Nadu through its regular activities and awareness camps in traffic training parks, schools, colleges & corporates.
Sensitizing people of all age groups, Honda has made 36 lac Indians aware on road safety through its 14 adopted traffic training parks (2 in Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Yeola, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ludhiana, Coimbatore, Trichy, Karnal and Thane); training to learner license applicants & traffic rule violators at its 4 traffic parks (Karnal, Bhubaneswar, Trichy & Coimbatore) & 4 safety driving education centres (Ranchi, Kozhikode, Vijayawada & Una) and regular activities for schools, colleges, corporate & societies.
Furthermore, Honda is also spreading road safety awareness digitally through its Road Safety E-Gurukul started in May’20 and has educated over 40,000 people across 68 cities and 19 States & U.Ts. Together, with the support of civil society, Honda is making all efforts to ensure that Indians are safer on roads as India continues to unlock further in the times to come.
