R Mohanraja has assumed charge as the Principal Chief Personnel Officer (PCPO) of Southern Railway on Thursday (April 9, 2026), bringing with him decades of experience in human resource management and organisational leadership within Indian Railways.

An officer of the Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) from the 1990 batch, Mohanraja previously served as PCPO at the Integral Coach Factory, where he played a key role in personnel administration and workforce planning.
Leadership Across Divisions & Recruitment Ecosystem
Over the years, Mohanraja has held several pivotal roles, including Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Guntur Division and Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), Chennai Division.
He also led the Railway Recruitment Cell for over six years, spearheading large-scale hiring initiatives and strengthening workforce pipelines.
His service footprint spans major railway divisions such as Madurai, Chennai, Mysuru and Tiruchirappalli, along with academic responsibilities as correspondent of various railway schools.
Global Learning, Strategic Outlook
Mohanraja has undergone advanced management training at globally reputed institutions including the Rotman School of Management and premier institutes in the United States.
He is also an alumnus of the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD, Singapore and ICLIF, Kuala Lumpur, and has trained at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
