Sneha Khanwalkar is the lady behind some great music for films like ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’, ‘Love Sex aur Dhokha’, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and ‘Khoobsurat’. Her tunes reflect the hybrid between traditional and modern India. Her soundtrack for the film ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’ was her big break which came in 2008. This supremely talented music director will be seen in episode 11 of MX Player’s ‘Times of Music’ where speaks about some lesser-known facts about her life and music career.
On the show, Sneha revealed that it was in fact Anurag Kashyap who introduced her to Ram Gopal Varma and how the latter told to drop everything she’s doing as he wants to launch a female music director. Narrating this story Sneha Khanwalkar while laughing says, “The first film that I signed was with Tigmanshu Dhulia, after which Anurag sent me to Ram Gopal Varma and he’d then asked me what I was working on. And I said, I have just signed Tigmanshu’s film, so he said to drop everything you’re doing and work on my film because I want to launch a female music director. And then he said I will change your name to ‘TEN’, so I said why ‘TEN’, he said why should it be a name it should be a number,”
Episode 11 of Times of Music will see the well-known band the Indian Ocean rearrange Sneha Khanwalkar’s song ‘Tung Tung Baje’ and Sneha Khanwalkar will be seen recreating Indian Ocean’s song ‘Bandeh’.
