Two IAF transporter aircraft IL-76s airlifted four cryogenic oxygen containers from Jakarta to Visakhapatnam, needed to ease bottlenecks in the supply of the life saving gas in hospitals struggling with the burgeoning patients of COVID-19 second wave, Home Ministry officials said.
C17 Globemaster was airborne fm Hindan & landed at Frankfurt, Germany after flying for continuous 12:30 h.
After quick turnaround, Ac will depart for Mumbai on same day with 35 tonnes of medical equipment from there.

In the operation, coordinated by the Union Home Ministry, the cryogenic containers, used for storage and transport of oxygen, are being procured from across the globe and transported in Indian Air Force’s IL-176 and C-17 aircraft.
An IAF C17 airlifted Zeolite (Respiratory Oxygen raw material) from Frankfurt to Mumbai. Two other C17s are bringing 02 Oxygen Generators from Boardeaux, France to Hindan Airbase and Oxygen Concentrators and Respirators from Israel to Hindan Airbase.
In India, C-17s airlifted 4 cryogenic oxygen containers from Pune to Jamnagar, 7 from Gwalior and Bhopal to Ranchi and 2 from Hindan to Ranchi.
Other C17s are bringing 4 cryogenic oxygen containers from Vijayawada to Bhubaneswar, 6 from Chandigarh to Ranchi, 2 from Agra to Jamnagar, 2 from Hindan to Bhubaneswar, 6 from Hyderabad to Bhubaneswar and 2 from Jodhpur to Jamnagar.
The country has so far reported over 2.26 crore COVID-19 cases with over 3.66 lakh cases reported in last 24 hours, according to Health Ministry data issued at 8 am on Monday.
