- Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat graces the occasion as Chief Guest

South Western Air Command celebrated the 91st anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) with a variety of formal and social events at its headquarters here on Sunday.

The culmination of the celebrations was a ‘Reception’ hosted by HQ SWAC with Governor of Gujarat Acharya Devvrat gracing the occasion as Chief Guest. The event was also attended by senior functionaries of the State administration and eminent personalities from Gujarat.
During the event, Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of HQ SWAC highlighted the growth trajectory of the IAF, its capabilities, commitment to protect Indian airspace and also emphasized on IAF’s accelerated drive for ‘Atmanirbharta’ with absorption of indigenous technology.
The Governor addressed the gathering and complimented the IAF for its professionalism and commitment. He also acknowledged IAF’s contribution in the sphere of nation building as well as Humanitarian and Disaster Relief operations.
The Indian Air Force celebrated its 91st anniversary on Sunday. The IAF which made its humble beginning on 8th October 1932 with six Indian Hawai Sepoys, has today grown to become one of the most potent air forces across the globe. On the occasion of Air Force Day, IAF personnel re-iterate their pledge to serve the nation with patriotism and professionalism following all tenets of military ethos.
