VADODARA, JUNE 30

In a significant step towards deepening civil-military collaboration and strengthening India’s indigenous defence ecosystem, Air Force Station Vadodara on Tuesday organised an Industry Outreach Programme (IOP), bringing together the Indian Air Force, defence manufacturers, MSMEs, start-ups and technology innovators to accelerate the nation’s march towards Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The initiative reflects the Indian Air Force’s continuing efforts to build a stronger partnership with Indian industry by enabling innovators to better understand operational requirements and develop cutting-edge indigenous solutions for future air power capabilities.

Representatives from leading industries, defence start-ups and MSMEs participated in the programme alongside senior delegates from Air Headquarters, Headquarters South Western Air Command, and various Indian Air Force establishments.

The participants were provided an immersive understanding of the station’s operational, maintenance and administrative ecosystem through detailed presentations and guided visits to key Air Force facilities.

The exposure enabled industry representatives to gain valuable insights into real-time operational challenges and user requirements, allowing them to align research, product development and manufacturing with the evolving needs of the Indian Air Force.

A series of interactive technical discussions focused on developing practical, innovative and indigenous technologies capable of enhancing operational effectiveness while reducing dependence on imports.

The enthusiastic participation from industry underscored the growing confidence of India’s private sector, MSMEs and start-ups in contributing to the country’s expanding defence manufacturing ecosystem.

The programme reaffirmed the Indian Air Force’s commitment to nurturing innovation-driven partnerships with domestic industry, in line with the Government of India’s vision of transforming the country into a global hub for defence design, development and manufacturing.

The outreach also complements ongoing national initiatives such as Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) and increasing private-sector participation in defence production, all aimed at creating globally competitive indigenous capabilities and strengthening India’s strategic self-reliance.
