The skies above the Statue of Unity came alive on Thursday morning as the Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) and IAF helicopters presented a breathtaking aerial display to commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2025 (National Unity Day) — an occasion that celebrates the vision and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

In the gracious presence of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the airspace over Ekta Nagar transformed into a canvas of colour and precision as nine red-and-white Hawks of the Suryakiran team streaked across the sky, creating stunning tricolour trails and intricate formations that drew thunderous applause from thousands of spectators below.

The dazzling display, complemented by IAF helicopters performing coordinated flypasts and floral showers over the Statue of Unity — the world’s tallest statue, symbolised the spirit of national unity, strength, and pride. The sight of petals cascading from the skies amid the vibrant hues of the Tricolour etched an indelible image in the hearts of all present.

Prime Minister Modi, who witnessed the air display, lauded the Indian Air Force for its spectacular performance and reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to uphold the ideals of unity and integrity championed by Sardar Patel.

“The magnificent performance of the Suryakiran team reflects the discipline, skill, and indomitable spirit of our armed forces — a perfect tribute to the Iron Man who united India,” the Prime Minister said.

Thousands of visitors, dignitaries, and defence personnel gathered at Ekta Nagar for the event, which resonated with patriotic fervour and collective pride. The aerial display culminated in a grand Tricolour salute, marking yet another historic moment in the nation’s celebration of unity and strength.
