Braving gusty winds and rough Arabian sea amid Cyclone Biparjoy, the Indian Coast Guard Region NorthWest evacuated 50 personnel from an oil drilling rig — Key Singapore — 40 Km seaward from Dwarka, off Okha in Gujarat, in 7 sorties of overnight ops by ICG ALH aircraft & ship Shoor.

“All 50 personnel have been evacuated today morning from jack-up rig ‘Key Singapore’ operating off Dwarka coast near Okha, Gujarat by the Indian Coast Guard ALH Dhruv helicopters in 12 sorties,” said ICG officials.

The Coast Guard has four Advanced Light Helicopters in Gujarat, but the other helicopters are kept in reserve as they will be required post the cyclone.
Shipping activities at Deendayal Port at Kandla have ceased, resulting in the piling up of shops. A warning signal hoisted there.
