AHMEDABAD, MARCH 22
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Headquarters, No.1 Coast Guard District (South Gujarat, Daman & Diu), conducted an Area Level Maritime Pollution Response Workshop and Exercise at Porbandar on Wednesday. The aim of this exercise was to check the response mechanism for combating marine oil spill and revalidate the District Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan of ICG, says an ICG reLease.
The event was witnessed by various stake holders from State Administration, GMB port, private ports, Fisheries, Forest department, Petrochemical industries and other oil handling agencies.
During the Mock Drill, practical demonstration of pollution response equipment was carried out onboard ICGS Samudra Pavak which included operation of Ocean/River booms, Side Sweeping Arms, Skimmers and Spill Spray Arm along with its capability in containment, recovery and stowage of oil spill.
