The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) conducted a Special Community Interaction Programme (CIP) and medical camp at Vadinar on Friday.

It was also attended by representatives of Fisheries Department, Marine Police and Offshore Handling Agencies (OHAs).
About 135 fishermen from coastal villages, including Vadinar, Bharana, Nana Ambla, Sikka, Rasulnagar, Bedi, Sachana and Jodiya attended the camp wherein general health check-up was undertaken. Fishermen were briefed on carriage of life-saving and communication equipment to sea and encouraged to keep the coastline and marine environment clean.

Practical demonstrations were undertaken on donning of Life Jackets, CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and correct usage of Lifebuoys. Fishing community was also informed regarding Search and Rescue (SAR) Helpline Toll Free Number 1554 & 1993 for seeking SAR assistance at sea.
Participants were also to act as the “eyes and ears” of Indian Coast Guard by reporting any suspicious activities or emergencies at sea.
