The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Monday announced that it had rescued a fisherman who was bitten by a snake in midsea on Sunday.

In a swift operation coordinated by the Indian Coast Guard Station Veraval on Sunday, the Coast Guard ship (C-143) undertook evacuation of the master of IFB Badrika who had suffered a snake bite while retrieving the fishing nets at sea 54 NM south west off Veraval. C-413 was diverted from operational deployment for above mentioned causality evacuation and proceeded back after handing over the patient to marine police boat, the statement added.
The patient along with one attendant was embarked onboard the Coast Guard ship and initial medical aid was provided to the patient. The patient was brought to Veraval for further medical management and post stabilization shifted to Govt Hospital in Veraval by service ambulance for further treatment. The patient is reported to be stable.
