The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Saturday felicitated a seven-year-old girl from Ahmedabad for winning the National Bravery Award at its troops’ get-together ceremony, says a release.
“As the tradition stands, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Raising Day 2023 activities in the Region North West culminated on Saturday, with a grand troops’ get-together of ICG fraternity wherein ICG Officers, men, civilians and MES (Military Engineering Service) personnel of the Region and their families interacting and participating in the event. Cultural programs by ICG wards, music and dance performances by different artists were highlights of the event. The annual event is a tribute to the brave hearts of ICG and their family members,” the statement added.
In a first, apart from felicitating the ICG awardees during the event, a seven-year-old, National Bravery Award winning girl, Veerangana Adityasinh Jhala, from Ahmedabad was also felicitated by Inspector General AK Harbola, TM, Commander, Coast Guard Region (North West) for her spirit of bravery.

It is pertinent to mention that on August 7, 2022, the girl with her exceptional bravery and fearlessness saved lives of more than 60 people by timely getting them evacuated when a major fire broke out in their building. The girl received National Bravery Award of the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW) on Republic Day at Delhi.
