In order to provide better amenities to its staffers and the ICC, Inspector General AK Harbola, TM, the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North West) laid the foundation stone for construction of a new campus at Sector 18 in the vicinity to the existing Police Headquarters here on Saturday.
Rajesh Kulgod, Chief Engineer of Military Engineer Service (CG) and other senior ICG Officials were also present at this event.
“This new campus will house OTM (other than married) accommodation,the Integrated Coastal Security Network Hub and Regional Operating Centre (ROC). The ROC at Gandhinagar will also be integrated with Chain of Static Sensor Phase-II (CSS) initiated by the Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi, to further enhance the coastal surveillance along the Indian coastline. As a part of CSS Phase-II project, a total of 38 new Remote Operating Stations are being developed all across the Indian coastline, including Gulf of Khambhat and Gulf of Kutch. The Integrated Coastal Security Network Hub will ensure close coordination, proactive liaison and seamless flow of information among central and state security agencies,” a release stated.
The Indian Coast Guard is the nodal coordinating agency of the Centre to liaise with the State Agencies for the implementation of Coastal Security Measures.
ICG Regional Headquarters (North West) is mandated to implement ICG charters, including maritime security and safety in the maritime zones adjoining Gujarat, Daman & Diu and 1,600 Km long coastline.
