The Indian Coast Guard on Friday announced that it has rescued 46 more from marooned villages on Thursday taking the total number of persons rescued to 111 in the last 48 hours, says an ICG release.
“15 civilians stranded at Mahiyari & Dharshan villages were rescued in air operations by ICG ALH on Thursday afternoon. Further, Disaster Relief Teams (DRTs) of ICG have responded with boats and life jackets for evacuation of civilians stranded amidst rapidly increasing water levels at Nayad Vistar & Mufatnagar villages. These Disaster Response Teams have also evacuated a total of 31 villagers braving rising levels and flow of water,” the release said.
Thus a total of 111 lives have been rescued /evacuated in the past 48 hours by ICG ship, aircraft and DRTs, the statement added.
Continuing with ongoing rescue operations, due to heavy rains in the state, the Indian Coast Guard has further undertaken multiple operations in the afternoon of Thursday. Indian Coast Guard is conducting back to back rescue operations from Wednesday at sea and also in deluged areas over land, in response to assistance calls from state agencies.
