A day after the ICGS C-445 of the Indian Coast Guard rescued a fishing boat FB Vismita with six crews, another vessel ICGS Shoor rescued a fishing boat Rajlaxmi which had onboard flooding, carrying six fishermen on Sunday, a defence release said.
ICGS Shoor responded to a distress call received from fishing boat Rajlaxmi which was flooding onboard about 41 Nm from the coast close to International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) with Pakistan and rescued the boat at 11 am on Sunday, the release added.
The boat was shipping in water through 6 inch crack in hull and was flooded up to one and half meter, tilting to one side. ICG technical team carried out de-flooding and sealed the cracks using damage control equipment. After stopping the ingress completely and making the boat upright, the engine was started. The fishermen were provided with fresh water and provisions and boat was directed to proceed to nearest harbour Jakhau for permanent repairs.
This is the second such operation in two consecutive days. Earlier on Saturday night, FB Vismita with six crews was rescued by ICGS C-445.
