AHMEDABAD, MAY 2
The Indian Coast Guard Station at Veraval evacuated one critically injured crew from Indian Fishing Boat St Francis, 130 kms into sea west of Veraval, on the night of Wednesday. The individual had sustained serious head injury after a fall onboard the fishing boat due to rough sea conditions.

The Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Sub Center Veraval was the first to receive the SOS message. ICG Ship C153 which was at sea, for surveillance mission, was immediately diverted for the medical evacuation. Despite rough seas, C153 executed the task with utmost professionalism in night hours and brought the injured crew ashore and transferred to medical facility safely. Patient was brought to Veraval and handed over to IFB’s agent for further management. Condition is said to be stable.

The Indian Coast Guard again showcased its motto of ‘We Protect” or “वयम् रक्षामः” in letter and spirit by contributing to saving of a precious life at sea.
