Indian Coast Guard Ship C 419, rescued an unconscious fisherman from fishing boat ‘Dhan Prasad’ despite rough seas and challenging weather. The evacuation mission was coordinated by Indian Coast Guard Station Pipavav which received information from Fisheries Association, Jafrabad regarding head injury to the crew.
On receipt of information, ICG in a coordinated operation launched a helicopter from Porbandar and also sailed Ship capable of high speed, from Pipavav.
In a swift sea air coordinated operations thereafter, the ICG helicopter located the boat and assisted ICG ship towards reaching the boat quickly.
The ICG ship immediately launched medical team onboard fishing boat and after initial first aid stabilized and evacuated the patient.
Thereafter, ICG ship entered Pipavav harbour and handed over the patient to the Fisheries Association for onward transfer to hospital for further medical care.
The fisherman is reportedly stable. This is second such evacuation from sea by ICG in last 48 hrs wherein an injured fisherman has been evacuated from sea, a release said.
