IHG InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has a rich and long-standing history in India, with a continued commitment to strengthening its presence in the market.
IHG currently has 47 operating hotels in India, spanning six of our leading brands: Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, voco Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort, and Holiday Inn Express. IHG is set to more than double its operating portfolio, adding a robust pipeline of 60 hotels set to open over the next 3-5 years, further reinforcing its leadership in the market, said Sudeep Jain
Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts here recently.
Addressing reporters, he said over the past decade, IHG’s India portfolio has grown by a remarkable over 200%. This impressive growth has been driven by IHG’s strong market insights, valuable partnerships, and an experienced team with extensive expertise in the South-West Asia region
In India, in addition to its core brands IHG is evaluating opportunities to introduce its global L&L brands such as Regent, Kimpton and Vignette Collection, at the right time with the right partners and at the right location, he added.
South India remains a strategic focus for IHG, with major cities like Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad continuing to dominate the upper upscale and luxury hospitality segments
Additionally, leisure destinations like Kodaikanal, Sakleshpur, Coorg, Ooty, and Pondicherry are seeing demand growth. IHG has already signed properties in these areas, such as an InterContinental in Kodaikanal and a Holiday Inn Resort in Coorg
The hospitality group is actively engaging with owners who recognise the long-term potential of the hospitality sector in India. Given the growing demand for quality branded accommodation, IHG is actively also exploring conversion opportunities to expand its footprint. Recent introduction of voco, IHG’s global premium brand, has garnered significant interest from investors, reflecting the market’s appetite for quality, branded accommodations.
Similarly, Garner, the latest addition to IHG’s conversion brands portfolio, offers a flexible and efficient solution for owners seeking higher returns in the midscale segment. Both voco and Garner present strong growth potential in National Highways of India, with IHG actively identifying conversion opportunities, Mr Sudeep Jain added.
