In recognition of the critical role that mental well-being plays in the academic success and personal growth of students, the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IITGN), is organising a two-day workshop titled ‘Building Scalable Systems for Student Wellbeing in Residential Programs’ in its campus on Monday and Tuesday, March 4-5, 2024.
The student community for any educational institution is the driving force behind its vibrant culture, diversity, and academic dynamism. Additionally, as a ‘students-first’ institute, IITGN has consistently prioritised the holistic development of its students with mental health being one of the crucial pillars.
The workshop is designed to ideate and brainstorm the mental health issues in Indian Institutions such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISERs, and other Institutes of national importance, while sharing the experience of the Vice Chancellors, Directors, Deans and other experts from various institutions. Mental health experts, psychologists, psychotherapists, neurologists, academicians, and other experts working in this field will also be a part of this workshop.
It will focus on ‘Fostering Mental Wellness in Adult Youths,’ emphasising the diagnosis of problems, identifying practical solutions to enhance mental well-being, and cultivating a supportive environment within the academic community.
This workshop is expected to be a significant step towards nurturing the mental health of students, not only within IITGN but also across the broader landscape of Indian academic institutions.
