The implementation of business analytics across sectors has pushed the growth of data science significantly. The professional realm is seeing exponential increase in number of jobs and opportunities in recent times. The huge impact of rapid technological advancement is making practitioners from diverse backgrounds such as engineering, management, finance, economics, law, and public administration realize the need to level up in their careers by building expertise in the front of data science and business analytics. With this space showing potential to open up about 12 million jobs approximately by 2026, as per some reports, speaks enough for the thriving era that is unfolding. Professionals with relevant experience in this domain can earn up to Rs 25 lakh per year.
In order to help professionals make the most of the opportunity and create future-proof careers as India is thriving to become a $5 trillion economy, the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering, IIT Kanpur has announced a new eMasters degree programme in Data Science and Business Analytics. The programme provides an in-depth conceptual understanding of mining and analytical techniques for predictive and descriptive analysis of data. The programme allows professionals to apply without a GATE score and helps them build expertise on cutting-edge data science tools required for business analytics. It will also prepare them to leverage data science applications for making strategic business decisions.
The executive-friendly programme offers professionals the flexibility to complete the same between 1-3 years. Experts from the Department of Economics, Department of Industrial and Management Engineering, Department of Mathematics, and Department of Computer Science & Engineering at IIT Kanpur teach this 60-credit, 12-module industry focused curriculum. These also offer a credits transfer facility where a waiver of up to 60 credits can be transferred for higher education (MTech/PhD) at IIT Kanpur.
The high-impact format is taught through weekend-only live interactive sessions coupled with self-paced learning. Professionals get access to the IIT Kanpur placement cell and incubation centre, and alumni network, which help them to build a rich career and networking experience. As a part of the programme, participants will also get a chance to visit the campus and interact with the distinguished faculty and their peer group. Professionals would also receive a Senate-approved degree through convocation after successful completion of the course.
