The Entrepreneurship Cell of the Indian Institute Technology, Madras (IIT-M) will host 5th edition of “E-Summit 2020’’ from January 17 to 19.
Considered to be one of the largest entrepreneurial conferences attracted over 800 registrations from across the country, majority of them are from institutions in Tamilnadu and neighbouring Karnataka.
This edition is a summation of four summits – The Innovator’s Summit, The Start-Up Summit, Youth Summit, and the Techno-Entrepreneurship Summit.
This is year’s D-Well (Digital well-being) involves organising nostalgic activities and reminding the people about how the world used to be before the digital era and features and debates of what is the future of digital media hold for the society, said Mukund Khandelwal, Student’s Head of E-Cell.
Prof. Ashwin Mahalingam, Faculty Advisor of E-Cell, said, this year, our focus is to ensure that students with entrepreneurial inclinations take a giant step towards becoming entrepreneurs themselves in a few years of time.
He said over 500 innovative ideas were nurtured by the E-Cell. Among the successful start ups is in the field of ed-tech learning, which is currently fanning out to 10,000 students with its peer-to-peer learning programme. Another successful example is the creation of foldable houses, he adds.
Srinivasan Vishwanathan of IIT – M Entrepreneurship Forum said the forum was founded nine years ago with sole aim of nurturing students to find business models and followed by funding. The forum includes IIT Alumni’s batch of 1960 and still those graduated five years ago. The forum has angel investors and academicians who are working as mentors for the budding entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurship Insider 4.0, a premium yearly magazine by E-Cell IIT Madras was also launched during the occasion. The highlight of the fourth edition is the article on the mental health of entrepreneurs – which is a pressing topic that definitely calls for a discussion.
Aniket Bhoyar, Students’ Co-Head, E-Cell, IIT Madras, said, “The summit will provide a customised experience and a curated opportunity to the knowledge seekers to learn and interact, and to the startups to grow and enter higher leagues.”
