The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) alumni have launched on Friday ‘AskIITM.com,’ a website on which IIT Aspirants can directly reach out to IIT Madras Alumni and get answers to questions ranging from placements, faculty and academics to campus culture at IIT Madras.
The website will also have FAQs for the visitors to clear their queries. If they require additional information, they can fill out the form on the website and get answers directly from the @iitm_alumni

Visitors can browse the site www.askiitm.com look at the existing questions and ask their own also on this website, which is an alumni-run initiative and seeks to help those aspiring for IIT Madras.
Answers to commonly-received questions have already been posted on this website. These include
- “Is it true that IIT Madras is a hub for EV technology?”
- “What activities enabled IIT Madras to get NIRF rank #1 for 4 years in a row?”
- Questions on hostel amenities and mess food, among others
Calling upon JEE candidates to utilize this website, Prof V Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “Aspirants go to social media to find information but there is so much information that it is confusing. The need for a credible source of information is very high. I am thrilled that the passionate alumni of this great institute are providing this via AskIITM. I am confident this is the start of a journey not just for IITM, but for Indian education overall.”

The website allows for anyone to ask a question related to the institute, which will be answered within 48 hours by a team of alumni and student volunteers. Those asking questions will be given a response via email and/or Whatsapp, and the new question will be visible on the site to benefit others.
- Alumni will answer questions posted on AskIITM.com about the institute, ranging from academics, faculty & placements to campus life within 48 hours with responses shared over Email or WhatsApp
- The IIT Madras Alumni Association is hosting interaction events in Chennai, Hyderabad and Vijayawada between 2nd and 4th September 2022
- There are also virtual tours of the campus and departments on 10-11September 2022.
Speaking about this initiative, Prof Mahesh Panchagnula, Dean (Alumni and Corporate Relations), IIT Madras,said, “Our alumni are best placed to answer questions about IIT Madras since they have first-hand experience of both the Institution as well as placements after graduation.”
As part of the AskIITM effort, the IIT Madras Alumni Association is hosting interaction events in Chennai, Hyderabad and Vijayawada between 2nd and 4th September 2022. Those writing JEE can attend these events and can ask questions to the director and alumni present. There are also virtual tours of the campus and departments on 10-11September 2022.

Further, Amrutash Misra, who leads the team behind AskIITM, said, “The website has been set up to make the lives of aspirants and their parents easier.”
