This year’s theme, ‘Karpom Tamil’ (Let Us Learn Tamil), marks a unique educational and cultural milestone — focusing on spreading awareness about the richness of the Tamil language and heritage across the nation.
A key highlight of KTS 4.0 is the launch of the “Tamil Karpom” initiative, designed to enable students from North India to learn Tamil through immersive language and cultural experiences in Tamil Nadu.
IIT Madras will serve as the Knowledge Partner, managing logistics, coordinating academic programmes, and leading the development of the official KTS website. Its counterpart, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), will collaborate as the co-nodal institution.
Inviting the public to join this grand cultural celebration, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said: “The theme for this year’s edition — ‘Karpom Tamil’ — aims to spread awareness about the richness and depth of the Tamil language. As part of this initiative, Tamil learning sessions will be organised for students and youth in Kashi. Additionally, the Agasthya Expedition has been planned from Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu, to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, following the trail of Sage Agasthyar and celebrating his contributions to Indian culture and knowledge.”
Over 1,500 delegates from Tamil Nadu are expected to participate in seven diverse thematic categories, while around 300 students from Uttar Pradesh will travel to Tamil Nadu for Tamil language orientation programmes — building bridges of linguistic understanding and cultural appreciation.
Registrations for Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 are now open to the public at https://kashitamil.iitm.ac.in.
With its focus on language, learning, and shared heritage, this edition promises to be a vibrant reaffirmation of India’s ‘Unity in Diversity’, celebrating the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat through the living ties of Kashi and Tamil Nadu.
