The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) students, staff, and residents celebrated the 132nd birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on Thursday and Friday – April 13 and 14, 2023.
The two-day programme consisted of various activities and performances, including webinar, song, poem recitation, creation of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s portrait using 625 Rubik’s cubes, movie screening, an exhibition of Ambedkar books, and so on, highlighting the life and legacy of the great leader.
Dr Hemangi Kadlak, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai delivered a webinar on “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Perspective on the Emancipation of Women”. The highlight of the cultural evening was the performance by a Mumbai-based rap artist Mahi Ghane, who left everyone spellbound with her soulful performance. The event also included an open mic session, where participants gave speeches on Dr Ambedkar.
The programme concluded with an exhibition on Dr Ambedkar’s life and a bookstall organised by the students. The event was a fitting tribute to the great leader and highlighted his contributions towards social justice, equality, and nation-building.
