With an aim to kindle curiosity and excitement toward the diverse dimensions of science and technology in the next generation of engineers, scientists, and researchers, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is going to organise ‘G20-Ignite’, a uniquely designed Science & Technology Fair, on Saturday, April 15, 2023, for school students of classes 10 to 12 and those who have recently graduated grade 12.
The day-long Fair is lined-up with a plethora of exciting activities, hands-on training modules, interactive showcases and exhibitions, and immersive workshops and competitions curated by the Student Technical Council and its associated clubs/hobby groups, Centre for Creative Learning (CCL), Maker Bhavan, and IITGN student initiatives such as HackRush. The competitions encompass hardware programming, game development, understanding blockchain technology and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), treasure hunts and quizzes based on science and technology, astronomy workshops, structural engineering contests, and more! Moreover, students can immerse themselves and enjoy the fair through Silent DJ, Light and Sound Show, 3D printing and laser cutting technologies, Research Showcase, SciTech-themed entertainment, and many more events.
In addition to various competitions and activities, IITGN’s Centre for Creative Learning will be conducting a hands-on workshop that fosters out-of-the-box thinking, problem-solving, and active learning. The event will also see attempts to break two separate world records. The myriad research labs of IITGN will conduct demonstrations by breaking down the concepts of science and technology using models, experimental set-ups, and showcases. This unique exhibition will provide students with a glimpse into IITGN’s dynamic research and educational ecosystem.
Students and schools can learn more about the events and register for the event on the website https://iitgn.ac.in/ignite by April 10, 2023.
Talking about the initiative, Prof Amit Prashant, Dean, R&D, IITGN, said, “Since its inception, IIT Gandhinagar has been a crucial facilitator of teaching, knowledge dissemination, innovative research, and interactive outreach programmes in STEAM fields. Through ‘G20-Ignite’, we want Gen-Z to celebrate and pursue the wonders of science, technology, discovery, and innovation. It will also provide school students, college representatives, and interested stakeholders an opportunity to experience IITGN’s in-house technological prowess, state-of-the-art infrastructure and research facilities, and creative learning programmes.”
