AHMEDABAD, SEPT 6

In a significant milestone for football development in Gujarat, the Ahmedabad Racquet Academy (ARA) successfully hosted the ‘A Licence Coach Training Course’ conducted by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). This marks the first time such a prestigious coaching certification program has been held in the state.

The course, led by renowned football experts, aimed to equip aspiring coaches with the necessary skills and knowledge to develop and nurture young football talent.

The course instructors, Vivek Nagul, Head of Coach Development at AIFF and former Technical Director of ARA FC, and Sajid Yousuf Dar, former head coach of the Indian women’s national team, emphasized the importance of A Licence coaches in elevating the standard of football in India.

“A licence coaches play a crucial role in shaping the future of Indian football,” said Vivek Nagul. “By providing them with the right tools and training, we can ensure that our young players receive the best possible guidance and support,” added Nagul.

Sajid Yousuf Dar echoed Nagul’s sentiments, highlighting the growth of football in India. “The passion for football in India is undeniable,” he said. “A Licence coaches are instrumental in nurturing this passion and developing talented players who can compete at the highest level.”

Also joining the course as an Assistant Tutor is Gujarat’s own Shakti Chauhan, a pro-licence holder.

A total of 32 candidates from across India and abroad participated in the 12-day certification course.

Among the notable participants were:

  • Subrata Paul: The legendary Indian goalkeeper, often referred to as the “Spiderman of India,” brought his vast experience to the course.
  • Chandam Chitrasen Singh and Sanjeev Maria: Former Indian internationals, known for their contributions to the national team.
  • Saran Singh and Subhas Singh: I-League players with impressive careers in Indian professional football.
  • Steve Leon J Herbots: A UEFA B-licensed coach from Belgium and the director of United Sports in Kolkata, who praised the facilities and organization at the Ahmedabad Racquet Academy.

“The Ahmedabad Racquet Academy has provided an excellent venue for this course,” said Steve Leon J Herbots.

“The facilities and infrastructure are top-notch, creating an ideal environment for learning and development,” he added.

“We are always ready to help football in any form possible. It was good to see such top-notch coaching as well as attendance giving our academy and Gujarat a Thumbs up in sports infrastructure,” says Krinesh Patel, Director ARA FC.
