In a first-of-its-kind in Tamil film industry, pooja for one-day shooting, next day release film ‘Pitha’ was held at Kamala Studio in Vadapalani in Chennai.
The shooting, dubbing, editing, re-recording, music scoring of the film will be held on Friday, April 7 and the film will be released the next day- Saturday, April 8.
This film’s story, and direction are being handled by youthful out-of-the thinking S Sugan.
Anu plays the titular role while Adhesh Bala (son of late comedian Sivaraman), Arulmani and comedian Sams act in major characters.
Sugan is being supported by a team of youths Baba Kennady has written the dialogues, cinematography by Ilayaraja, music composer Naresh, editing-Sri Vatsan, Live sound recording-Vinod Jackson, Arts-KB Nandu, production executive-PV Bhaskaran, Stills-Rishal, Eashwar,& Laxman, Production-editing-Deepak, Designer-Vivek Sundar, Executive producer-Sathishkumar and producer Vichchur S Shankar.
He started his career as assistant director to Kala Master for six years. Later, he was mentored by ‘Ulavuthurai, Jananam, Kalavaram, and Swathiyin Kolai Vazhakku’ director Ramesh Selvan in various directorial roles. He is debuting as director with this film.
One can predict that it is an action-suspense-thriller as bullets pierce through the title ‘Pitha’.
The team has planned to hold shooting in five different locations in and around Chennai and use nine cameras.
Before raising the question on the numbers 23:23 appearing below the title, Sugan said, “just wait for the film’s release to get your answer.”
The film will have 80 percent night effect but shooting will take place right from morning to midnight.
Commenting on this novel initiative, Sugan, who has made eight documentaries, said, “The whole film industry should ask who is this Sugan? Being a debutant director, I have to leave my mark with a new trend and create a great expectation from the fans.”
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s ‘dream big and give shape to it’ holds good in his case.
