AHMEDABAD, JUNE 9

In Digital India, Coding, the only global language, is a child’s play as more Indian students, learn coding early in school days so that they can create world-class products and solve real-life problems as they grow up.

One such youngster, Hetansh Haria, embraced coding by joining a Bengaluru-based online coaching class before Covid. After the coaching class was shut down, his parents found a mentor, Pranav Varma, an IT expert to hone Hetansh coding skills. When children of his age were playing indoor and online games during the Covid-induced lockdown, this child prodigy devoted his time to enhance the 21st-century abilities, including creativity, problem-solving, and decision-making by learning coding under the tutorship of Pranav.

During this summer vacation Hetansh joined the Google’s beginner-level, six-course certificate, to evaluate his mastery over Python. Although he cleared the first module in no time, the second one was the challenging one. However, he overcame and completed the entire course in 20 days and also submitted his project report.

On May 25, this little master has cracked the Google’s ‘Crash Course on Python’ with flying colours to become the youngest achiever in India, claims his mother Krutika.

Within two days, he appeared for the same course in IBM and done exceedingly well in that too.

He scored 88.75% in Google Certified Course and 93.40% in IBM Python Developer certification.

Speaking with navjeevanexpress.com, Hetansh said, “During the Covid pandemic our healthcare field was lagging in suitable software to handle the enormous data. This provoked me to do something to improve the healthcare sector which in turn will help the humanity. Thus I decided to become a Data Scientist who is in much demand from all fields viz electronic gadgets, automobiles, space research and healthcare. I want to join NASA to show my mettle in coding.”

It was found that solving issues gives youngsters like Hetansh, 9, Std 5 student of Eklavya School, more self-confidence, which makes it easier for them to adapt and take on new tasks.

When asked “Where he will pursue his higher education to become a Data Scientist?”, Hetansh replied with confidence that he would complete his higher education in Gujarat as it has world-class institutes. He further said, “I want to make my Gujarat State in particular and the country in general proud by acquiring the skills in my home state.”

Incidentally, Hetansh accompanied by his mom Krutika visited the Indian Institute of Technology  Gandhinagar (IITGN), the only higher education institute from Gujarat in the top 20 institutions as per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking in 2023. IITGN Communication and Media Officer Shivangi Bhatt hosted them on the campus.

Replying to a query on “how does he manage the academic life, coding class and playing with his friends in the society?”,

Hetansh said, “I used to complete my home work and studies immediately after coming back from the school in two hours. Later, three to four hours is allocated for the virtual coding class and practice. To keep my body fit, I do cycling for an hour from 8 pm to 9 pm then I go to bed as I have to get up early for school.”

Talking about his mentor and parents, Hetansh says whenever I was found demoralized in resolving the tough sessions, my sir Pranav used to motivate me. My mother steadfastly used to sit with me to give me the necessary support and my dad is the pillar of strength for all of us.

Voracious reader

Hetansh Haria was introduced to reading at a tender age. He is a voracious reader. Now, he keeps his home library well stocked with books on all subjects under the Sun. Despite his busy schedule, he spares some time for reading to keep pace with the fast changing time.

Art of good parenting

When asked about the upbringing of Hetansh , his mom Krutika said, “Every child is unique in this world. We should not compare them with others. It is the responsibility of all parents to identify the latent talents of children at a very young age. This will help them to mould the children in their chosen path viz arts, music, dance, sports, science, technology, engineering, maths, and so on. We have given that freedom to Hetansh, our only child and  handhold him to achieve his life’s ambition.  We never thrust any of our ambitions on Hetansh.”

Being a tech-savvy mom, Krutika said that  Python is one of the most widely used programming languages for creating artificial intelligence (AI), a fast-developing field for children. At a certain age, exposing children to AI can be both entertaining and educational.
