AHMEDABAD, JUNE 3
Gujarat Government has made e-KYC process mandatory for ration cardholders to ensure their continued eligibility for subsidized food grains. Under which, all ration cardholders will have to complete the e-KYC process by 30th June, 2025 to get ration. This initiative of the Gujarat Government is being considered an important achievement towards making food grain distribution transparent and smooth in the State. Now, Department of Posts is also playing an important role in this.

Commenting on this, Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad Krishna Kumar Yadav said, “Under an MoU between Department of Posts and Director of Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Gujarat, Department of Posts is providing the facility of e-KYC to ration cardholders at door step without any charge. So far, Department of Posts has completed e-KYC of more than two lakh Ration card holders at door step. The benefit of this scheme will be specifically available to NFSA Ration cardholders. This service is being provided through more than 8,800 Post offices located in rural and urban areas of Gujarat Postal Circle. To complete the e-KYC of all Ration card holders promptly, Postal officials in coordination with District Supply Officers are providing service to the beneficiaries by visiting their homes, providing e-KYC service at Ration shops and Community camps.”
Postmaster General, Krishna Kumar Yadav said, “The Department of Posts is also providing the facility of mobile number updation in Aadhaar at door step through Postmen and Gramin Dak Sewak. If the mobile number of any ration cardholder is not updated in Aadhaar, then, postal officials will first update his mobile number under Aadhaar Seva and later do e-KYC of that ration cardholder. If for some reason, Postal officials unable to be contacted, then, the ration cardholder can go to nearest Post Office to avail this service. This initiative is a big step towards Digital India and accessible administration, through which Old age people, Divyangs, bed ridden people, women will get comfortable and dignified service through technology at their door step.”
