Asserting that India and the US will have a big role in the global recovery from the pandemic, and will need to work closely, the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) Gujarat branch hosted an interactive meeting on “Exploring Business Opportunities in US” in Surat on Saturday.
The entire team of IACC Gujarat branch as well as office-bearers of the chamber’s West India Council participated in the meeting, which was attended by over 50 industry leaders from Surat’s textile, diamond and other industries. Representatives of The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI) and other leading trade and industry bodies also attended the meeting which was coordinated by Raj Mehta of Surat-based Yash Polythene Pvt Ltd.
During their visit, the IACC office-bearers also met with SGCCI president Dinesh Navadiya, vice-president Ashish Gujarati, and former president Hetal Mehta, and discussed how the two chambers can enhance ties.
Speaking on the occasion, Pankaj Bohra, Regional President of IACC West India Council, gave a brief outline about the activities of the chamber and its role in promoting India-US relations. “IACC is dedicated to developing and strengthening India and US relations, and will continue to fulfil that role,” Bohra said.
Addressing the meeting, IACC Gujarat branch chairman Shailesh Goyal spoke about the growing trade ties between India and the US, and recovery from the pandemic.
“I am confident trade between the two strategic partners, USA and India, will reach pre-pandemic levels soon. I also believe that India and the US will have a big role in the global recovery from the pandemic, and will need to work closely,” Goyal added.
Goyal also made a presentation about IACC’s B2B services. Samir Patel, IACC NEC member said that they are aimed at helping members grow their business through facilitating and promoting collaborations, tie-ups, and strategic alliances using its extensive network. Dinesh Daga, IACC WIC member informed that the IACC’s B2B initiative is aimed to help SMEs grow their business by way of linkages with potential business partners.
The US economy has nearly recovered from the lows seen as a result of the pandemic in 2020 and is heading towards growth as a result of vaccination rollout. The Indian economy is also recovering, and was back in positive territory last quarter.
