The India Cements, which has celebrated the rich tradition of cricket for more than five decades, is hosting a special cricket tournament exclusively for civil engineers, a key stakeholder in construction and infrastructure.
The tournament, titled India Cements Pro League (ICPL), will be launched on December 17, 2022. The event is an ideal platform for thousands of certified registered civil engineers across Tamil Nadu to showcase their flair for their favourite game. The ICPL will kickstart with 48 teams across Tamil Nadu playing in various district grounds, with the final slated to be held in Chennai.
The ICPL trophy and the special jersey were unveiled on Wednesday, in Chennai by . Parthasarathy Ramanujam, Chief Marketing Officer, S Natesh, Tamil Nadu State Head Sales & Marketing, India Cements, Shashank Singh, Head, Marketing & Channel Growth T Natarajan, Indian star cricketer and the fast bowler from TNPL and M Ravi, State President, Federation of all Civil Engineer’s Association of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry (FACEAT&P).
Event advisor, N Duraikannan and other office bearers were present on the occasion.
The 1st Edition of the tournament will be supported by Federation of all Civil Engineer’s Association of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry (FACEAT&P).
The 1st phase of the tournament will be held at Coimbatore, Salem, Trichy, Madurai, Vellore, Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai and Tirunelveli. The final phase (Quarterfinal + Semi Final + Final) for the winners from eight districts grounds will be held in Chennai on 28th and 29th January 2023 to identify the ultimate winner. The tournament participants will be only from invited civil engineers. There is no entry fee for participating in this tournament.

It has plans for taking the ICPL to other parts of India for hosting the most favourite game in each state.
Tournament Format
Phase 1: It will be a league-cum-knockout based tournament with a total number of 56 matches
- 1st Phase from 17th December 2022 to 8th January 2023. (At various districts)
- 8 groups with six teams in each group
- Each team will play two league games
- 1 winner will be announced from each ground
Phase 2: Quarterfinals, semi-finals and final will be held at Chennai. Finals will be played under floodlights
Prizes
- Man of the match for every match will receive exciting prizes. The winner and runner-up will be awarded with trophies.
- 4 special prizes for Best Bowler, Best Batsman, Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament will be presented during the final presentation.
- All the members of the winners and runner-up teams will be presented with medals.
- No entry fee for this tournament.
- All matches will be played with a tennis ball
- 6 Civil Engineers’ team from each group district will participate.
- 4 matches a day in each ground. A total of 7 matches will be played per district.
- Qualified umpires and scorers will officiate in the matches.
- Balls will be provided by the organisers.
- Winners and runners-up will be awarded with a trophy.
- Player of the Match award will be presented for every match.
- Special awards will be presented to the Best Bowler, Best Batsman and Player of the Tournament.
- T-Shirt and cap will be provided to all players during all the matches.
