The Department of Posts celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — the Iron Man of India — with fervour and patriotic spirit across the nation on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day). In Ahmedabad, a special function was organised by the North Gujarat Region of India Post, where Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav led the celebrations and administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge to officials, reaffirming their commitment to uphold the unity, integrity, and security of the nation through dedicated service.

Addressing the gathering, Krishna Kumar Yadav paid glowing tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, describing him as the architect of national integration whose leadership during the freedom struggle and nation-building phase remains unparalleled. He emphasised that Sardar Patel’s vision, determination, and administrative foresight continue to inspire generations, particularly his pioneering role in establishing the All India Services, earning him the title of the “Patron of India’s Civil Servants.”
Highlighting the message of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, the Postmaster General urged officials to imbibe Sardar Patel’s values of integrity, discipline, and collective effort. “Let us draw inspiration from the Iron Man’s life and work towards strengthening national unity through our every action and service to the people,” he said.
Yadav also noted that the Department of Posts has been instrumental in showcasing Sardar Patel’s contributions across India and abroad through postage stamps that immortalise his legacy. On the eve of this historic occasion, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi released a commemorative postage stamp at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, marking 150 years of Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy as India’s first Home Minister and the unifier of the nation.
The event in Ahmedabad was attended by Assistant Director Varis M. Vahora, Senior Accounts Officer Pooja Rathore, Assistant Accounts Officer Chetan Sain, Ram Swaroop Mangawa, Assistant Superintendent Jinesh Patel, Ramesh Patel, Ronak Shah, Inspector Yogendra Rathod, and several other officials, who took part in the solemn pledge ceremony and paid floral tributes to the great leader.
