The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) on Monday celebrated its 8th Foundation Day, known as IPPB Day, marking another milestone of transforming the banking landscape by delivering inclusive, accessible, and affordable services at the last mile.

Since inception, IPPB has emerged as one of the largest financial inclusion initiatives globally, leveraging the unmatched reach of more than 1.64 lakh Post Offices and more than 1.90 lakh Postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS). The Bank has successfully on-boarded over 12 crore customers, processed billions of digital transactions, and enabled doorstep banking services in rural, semi-urban, and remote regions.
Recent innovations have further strengthened IPPB’s portfolio. The Bank has expanded into end-to-end DBT disbursements, pension payments, credit facilitation through referral tie-ups and insurance & investment products in collaboration with partner institutions. New offerings like DigiSmart (Digital Savings Accounts), Premium Aarogya Savings Account (Bank Account with Healthcare Benefits), Aadhaar-based Face Authentication has added newer dimensions of customer convenience and on-demand availability of digital banking services. The RuPay Virtual Debit Card, AePS (Aadhaar-enabled Payment Services), cross-border remittances, and Bharat BillPay integration had already made IPPB a truly comprehensive financial services provider at the grassroots.

On this occasion, Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad, Krishna Kumar Yadav said “It is worth noting that more than 18 lakh IPPB accounts are being operated in the North Gujarat region, so far provided general insurance to 2.41 lakh people, mobile updation to 6.44 lakh and Aadhaar enrollment of more than 55,000 children at their doorstep under CELC. DBT payment of Rs 54 crore was made to more than 94,000 people in North Gujarat. At PAN India, 48% of IPPB customers are women, underlining its important role in women empowerment and inclusive banking.”
Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav appreciated the new initiatives by India Post Payments Bank in a program held at the Regional Office and said, ”The IPPB has launched the ‘Premium Aarogya Savings Account’ at just ₹149, keeping in mind the needs of the people. This account not only ensures their financial security but also addresses their health-related requirements. It is truly an integrated solution combining banking and healthcare, proving to be especially beneficial for people in rural and remote areas. The key benefits of this account includes: unlimited online doctor consultations, discounts on medicines and diagnostic tests, free doorstep banking, and basic digital banking facilities. This account is designed for those who wish to avail both savings and preventive healthcare benefits.”
IPPB Chief Manager Abhijeet Jibhkate said that by conducting a three-day campaign in the North Gujarat region to raise awareness about general insurance, an impressive achievement was made with the issuance of over 6,200 new GI policies.
Assistant Director Ritul Gandhi said that IPPB has transformed financial inclusion into a ground reality through its extensive network and the strong infrastructure of the Postal Department.
