India Post is strengthening its last-mile connect and citizen-centric delivery with the guiding vision of “Dak Sewa, Jan Sewa,” said Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, Krishna Kumar Yadav, during a comprehensive review of postal services in the Surat Division.
“India Post is delivering services to the last mile with the vision of ‘Dak Sewa, Jan Sewa’,” Krishna Kumar Yadav said while emphasizing the achievement of targets across all major services through focused campaigns in the remaining months of the current financial year.

Highlighting the transformation of the Department of Posts, he said the organisation has moved far beyond traditional mail delivery and has emerged as a trusted national institution in financial inclusion, logistics, e-commerce support and digital services, playing a vital role in India’s socio-economic development.
During his visit, Yadav underlined the importance of connecting citizens with modern postal services, ensuring swift grievance redressal, and maintaining a high level of responsiveness towards customers. Inspecting the Surat Head Post Office, he issued directions to officers to ensure a clean, customer-friendly and convenient environment for the public.
As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, a tree plantation drive was carried out at the Nanpura Head Post Office to promote environmental protection and sustainability.
Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Surat Division, Yash Jain, welcomed the Postmaster General and presented a detailed overview of the progress, achievements and development initiatives undertaken by postal services in the division.
Krishna Kumar Yadav also reflected on his personal association with Surat, noting that he began his career in the Indian Postal Service on 22 July 2003 as Senior Superintendent of Post Offices in the Surat Division.
“Surat is not merely a workplace for me, but a significant place of work filled with memories and experiences,” he said, adding that returning after 21 years and reconnecting with his first posting was pleasant and inspiring.
During his one year and two months tenure in Surat, Yadav had led several landmark initiatives, including the relocation of the Office of the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices and Nanpura Head Post Office to a new departmental building, the establishment of a dedicated business development office, and the organisation of a Philatelic Stamp Exhibition after a gap of 24 years.
He also interacted warmly with retired postal employees who had worked with him earlier, enquiring about their well-being. Staff members expressed delight and emotion at meeting him again.
Officials present during the visit included Yash Jain, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices; Sanjay R. Mistry, Deputy Superintendent; S. V. Parmar; I. N. Christy, Senior Postmaster, Surat Head Post Office; C. I. Bhatt, Postmaster, Nanpura Head Post Office; M. M. Rathod, Assistant Superintendent, along with other officials.
