India Post has released a Special Cover and Cancellation to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the Border Security Force (BSF), marking 60 years of its distinguished service to the nation. The Special Cover was unveiled on Friday, 21st November 2025 in Bhuj by Union Minister of Home and Cooperation Amitbhai Shah.
The commemorative cover, themed “Border Security Force – 60 Years of Glorious Service (1965–2025)”, artistically highlights the BSF’s multidimensional operational excellence across land, water and air.
Raised on 1st December 1965 in the aftermath of the Indo-Pak War, the BSF has since served as “India’s First Line of Defence,” safeguarding the nation’s borders and contributing significantly to internal security.
BSF personnel fought alongside the Indian Army during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, playing a pivotal role in the Liberation of Bangladesh. Over the decades, the Force has displayed exemplary courage in counter-terrorism operations in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.
The BSF’s valour was again evident during Operation Sindoor, which earned the Force 2 Vir Chakras and 16 gallantry medals. As it completes six decades of unwavering service, the BSF continues to embody its inspiring motto — “Jeevan Paryant Kartavya” (Duty Till Death) — standing firm as the vigilant sentinel of India’s borders.
The Special Cover pays tribute to this proud legacy and the enduring commitment of the Force.
