AHMEDABAD, SEPT 20

From a 55% revenue surge to 5.10 lakh new savings accounts, North Gujarat’s postal network is demonstrating how India Post’s traditional public-service reach can be harnessed for digital delivery and financial inclusion—with Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav calling for timely achievement of targets and financially self-reliant branch post offices.

Presiding over a performance review of divisional heads for the current financial year, Yadav underscored the need to accelerate business growth, strengthen customer-focused services and advance the ‘Postal Warriors Campaign’ across the North Gujarat Region.

India Post embraces digital transformation, targets self-reliant branches

In line with the vision of ‘Digital India’, India Post is steadily integrating its extensive postal network with digital platforms to make service delivery simpler, faster, more secure and transparent.

“From public service to digital service, India Post is keeping pace with a changing India,” said Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region Krishna Kumar Yadav.

He also highlighted the continuing popularity of Post Office Savings Schemes, citing public trust in their secure investment options, assured returns and attractive interest rates.

Yadav expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting of Senior Superintendents of Post Offices and Sub-Divisional Heads at the ‘Meghdootam’ Conference Hall of the Regional Office in Ahmedabad. The meeting assessed the work accomplished during the financial year 2026-27 so far.

Revenue growth of 55%; ‘Postal Warriors’ drive reviewed

Yadav conducted a category-wise review of the Department of Posts’ business performance, covering mail, parcels, international mail, Post Office Savings Bank services, Postal Life Insurance (PLI), Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI), Aadhaar and passport services, philately and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).

Against the overall revenue target of ₹349.51 crore for FY27, North Gujarat Postal Region achieved ₹110.85 crore up to August 2026, registering 55% growth over the corresponding period of the previous year.

The ‘Postal Warriors Campaign’, launched to make post offices financially self-reliant, also came under detailed review. Yadav directed officials to expedite the coverage of post offices under the Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum categories.

He stressed time-bound achievement of targets aligned with future priorities and sustained business growth.

Digital transactions, D+0 delivery and doorstep services in focus

The Postmaster General called for a stronger push towards digital transactions at post office counters and greater use of the Postmen’s Mobile App for delivery operations.

Key priorities included expediting Speed Post and parcel delivery under the D+0 initiative, ensuring doorstep delivery of PM Vishwakarma Tool Kits, devising effective marketing strategies for postal services and promptly addressing complaints received through social media and online platforms.

He also emphasised expanding accessible digital banking services through India Post Payments Bank.

Financial inclusion: 5.10 lakh savings accounts opened

Divisional Superintendents presented the work undertaken in their respective divisions, followed by detailed discussions and analysis.
